Good morning Reader!

πŸ™ First, a massive THANK YOU! Your support and your votes pushed us into the lead in Debt.com's 2026 FinTalk Awards and we were able to win Best Short-Form Content!

But more importantly than the award were your emails of support and love and thanks for these emails. It really means a lot to me to hear from you, thank you for reading!

πŸ’° In financial news though, it's time for savers to shine.

The Fed is meeting tomorrow and interest rate traders think there's an 92.4% chance they raise rates to 3.75-4.00%. The 10 Year Treasury is tickling 5% (after touching it earlier this week). Rates are going up folks.

Last week, Barclay's raised all their CD rates ahead of time and now you can get 6-, 9-, and 12-month CDs all above 4.00% APY on top of a $200 bonus for opening a new account.

If you have any variable rate debt, now may be a good time to see if you can pay less before rates go up even more:

πŸ’² Best Bank Rates (as of 9/15):

πŸ’° High Yield Savings - 3.80% APY + $400 Bonus from SoFi

πŸ›οΈ Short Term Treasury - VBIL 3.63%, SGOV 3.63%

πŸ“€ Certificates of Deposit (see all 40k+ rates)

πŸ” Below are nationwide rates, CD Valet has local rates which can be higher so click through to double check for your state.

πŸ’΅ Bank Bonuses - $450 US Bank, $200 Barclays, $400 SoFi, $500 Bank of America & more

Do you love Libby? If so, you know that one of the best ways to maximize the app is to join as many libraries as you can. It shortens waitlist times, increases what you can borrow, etc.

In this week's post, I share a few libraries that let anyone join for free, several that have an annual fee (but are worth it), and more.

It will level up your Libby account.

πŸ˜ƒ How to invest when your portfolio gets bigger

Put this under "good problem to have" but for some investors, there comes a time when your portfolio gets large enough that market swings are pretty big.

If you have a million bucks, a 10% swing is six figures.

How are you supposed to manage this mentally?

Our portfolios are now big (with a solid 70% of it being market gains after 25+ years of compounding) and I liked this post by Ben Carlson of A Wealth of Common Sense. There's no right answer, but he shares a few ways to approach it.

And remember big is relative.

Hi, I'm Jim Wang and I share my strategies and tactics for managing your money and enjoying more out of life.

I have been writing about money for nearly 20 years and believe that personal finance is one of those subjects that is made complicated because it benefits a select few. Our aim is to help make it easier to understand so that regular folks can use what we teach to take control of their money and build wealth.

Good morning Reader! A company recently reached out to me about their negotiation service. You give it all the bills you pay, they try to use AI to negotiate down the monthly charge, and you only pay if they are successful. (I'm not sharing their name because I want to learn more about it) I'm not entirely sure if they can help me personally as I try to negotiate one bill each month (that list has 12 targets). It doesn't always work. It doesn't have to though. I just give it a try and if it...

Good morning Reader! The 10-year Treasury is creeping up to levels we haven't seen since 2025 and the 30-year is around 5.27%. Rates are going up. Interest rate traders now see a 66.2% chance the Fed increases the target federal funds rate. If that wasn't enough, Japan's 10-year just hit 4% for the first time since 1996. That's important because with higher interest rates in Japan, the yen carry trade becomes less attractive. But, I'm not changing anything I'm doing. I'm decades from...

Good morning Reader! It seems that every week brings a new economic crisis. Whether it's the Iran war or the Fed flattening the yield curve or more retaliatory tariffs with our largest trading partners, there's always something. If you try to pay attention to it all, you're going to be overwhelmed. And it'll all be out of date next week. When it comes to your money, have a plan and stay the course. Invest early and often, save for a rainy day, and don't let the news impact your mental state....
